BRIEF EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

1999-2000 Vision Australia Foundation - Project Officer - Training and Development. Part-time

Pilot project: To establish training partnerships with a range of external training organisations and regional Vision Australia Foundation sites for the development and delivery of information technology training programs for people with a vision impairment. Particular focus on regional Victoria. To develop appropriate evaluation reports and seek a range of funding support from government, philanthropic trusts donations and/or bequests, to support this project moving beyond pilot phase.

1997- 1999 Home and Community Care Training Coordinator - Aged Services Network, Western Region. Part-time

Coordinate delivery of training to all HACC funded staff, volunteers and carers in the Department of Human Service's Western Metropolitan Region. Networking with relevant HACC service providers, industry bodies; industry training bodies, government reps. and tertiary and private training providers to develop, broker and evaluate appropriate and innovative accredited training responses and research. Produce training support publications. (Council on the Ageing (Vic.) is the auspice for the Aged Services Network, Western Region). Develop, maintain and distribute the annual HACC Training Directory.

1995 - 1996 Information Officer/Trainer - Victorian Association of Community Information Centres [Peak body for Citizens' Advice Bureaus (CABs)]

Co-ordinated statewide training programs and produced course material for volunteers in CABs across the state. Produced VACIC publications, edited Infocab. Worked with the community sector and VICNET in the development of a search engine for VICNET databases.

1995 Talking Newspaper Co-ordinator - Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind

Recruited, trained and supported 500+ statewide volunteers producing 55 audio newspapers. Produced training and volunteer manuals. Liaised with wide range of agencies assisting with newspaper production. Responsible for evaluation of all programs. Wrote submissions and managed budget. Coordinated repairs and replacement of assistive technology and audio equipment related to the role. (Maternity Leave Position)

1994 Vice President - School Library Association of Victoria

Contributed to strategic plan for SLAV. Evaluated and reviewed office staffing for SLAV. Contributed to a major evaluation of services to members and substantial revision of delivery models for PD programs to SLAV members across Victoria.

1993 Professional Development Officer - School Library Association of Victoria

Co-ordinated all SLAV professional development (PD) programs and calendar. Marketing and promotion of SLAV. Conducted training needs assessment of members. Evaluation of all PD programs. Co-ordinated the production and distribution of all course material. Set-up SLAV Interactive Satellite TV program over 72 sites across Victoria. Contacted and supported the program leaders/facilitators at each site. Networked with related organisations and negotiated the development of joint PD strategies. Reported to SLAV Council and committees and the Directorate of Education. Member of JCSAV Committee. Regular visits to rural and metropolitan branches.

**Whilst a consultant for Multicultural Education Services (MES) I coordinated local and statewide professional development programs. Networked with community groups, agencies ,schools and govt. depts. Contributed to a strategic plan for MES. Wrote Ministerial responses, curriculum support material and submissions and represented the Victorian Teachers' Union and MES on several departmental committees.

OTHER RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

1989 - 1990 Ministry for the Arts

Undertook surveys, focus interviews and literature review for the Ministry to examine the role of Victorian Public Libraries in the provision of adult literacy programs. The resulting report was published as part of the International Year of Literacy program and was launched by Margaret Whitlam.

1979 - 1980 Councillor - Victorian Teachers' Union (VTU)

Represented 2000+ teachers as the VTU Councillor for Preston 02 Region. Member of the Elimination of Sexism Committee and co-developed the policies on permanent part-time work and extended family leave provisions.

Computer literacy

Familiar with a wide range of computer software applications on both PC and Apple platforms, including databases, word processing, spreadsheets and desktop publishing. Familiar with CD Rom, on-line and Internet searching. Proficient with email usage and have completed HTML, Publisher and Access training.
